I am slow at getting around to posting things I know.

Last week, 2-14-11, to be exact, Jenna became engaged to be married. The fortunate young man is David Ramsey from Gaylord, MI.

The wedding date has been set for June

18, 2011. They are in full "wedding planning" mode now.

I don't think I can work enough overtime to pay for all this. Just kidding.

They have set up a "Facebook" page to connect with and inform others about the wedding and such. I personally do not have a Facebook page.

Had the great opportunity to go backpacking in east/central TN, Fall Creek Falls State Park last week. WOW I haven't done that since the Army days. We had great WX and an overall great time. Day two included a 1400 ft elevation change, 700ft down, then 700ft up. It was pretty tough on an old guy, but the boys didn't seem to bother them a bit.

Well if it take something special to be done by a child for a parent to feel proud of them, then this is one of those times. Adrianne has done something I never gave much thought to. She auditioned for TN public schools all west "honors" choir. This is a chance for all the schools in the western TN area to compile a group of young people for a choir. I originally thought it was only for her school. Oh no, there were hundreds of young people competing for a position in this choir. Middle school and High school. WELL, she not only made the choir, but is chair 14. I didn't know exactly what hat meant at first, but she had the 14th highest audition score out of a possible 76 spots. Wow!!!! I am so proud of her and her hard work. She has a great attitude and keeps her Christian character at all times.

Well today is Sept 23, they say that fall is here......I don't think so! Temps toady are in the upper 90's. I'm not complaining mind you, just saying.

The kids are all in school and doing good. Aggie is in the honors choir. I'm very proud of her. Lorna had a play the other day at school. Gina was able to be there to watch and said that all the kids where able to say who their hero was. Lorna stepped up to the mic and proudly said, "My hero is Jesus, because he loves all of us." To which the crowd of public school parents and teachers replied with a chorus of affectionate "Awwww's", and applause. I'm proud of her too!

Today was a great day for us and our church family. Two of our younger daughters were saved some time ago and both were baptized in the evening service. I am so happy that they have trusted Christ as their Savior!!!!!PTL!!! I have video that I will post later.

Moving again

Well here we go again.....we made a move to another state. We moved to TN and the town of Bartlett. We sold our home in MS. No, let me say, God sold our home!!!! We weren't even trying to sell it at the time. Praise the Lord for His faithfulness and grace. He is worthy of all praise and honor. This move takes us closer to the church which we have been members of since sometime last year. Each Sunday we were traveling 50+ miles each way and spending a lot of money. Now we are only a few miles away. PTL!! More to follow!!!

I checked this page the other day and realized how long it has been since I posted anything.

Obviously much has happened since the last posting. I won't try to bring it all together right now. I am praying for the people of Haiti. The thought of that level of destruction is overwhelming. I tried to imagine what it would be like for us here in the mid-south. Difficult I am sure.

All is well here with the family. This picture is from Christmas day at our Pastor's (Bret Capaci) house. We had a wonderful time sharing the day at their home. The food was wonderfully delicious.

Memphis Zoo

Yesterday we spent the afternoon walking around the Memphis Zoo! It was a good time. We only made it thru abour half of the zoo, before we had to go back to church. It was a good way to spend the afternoon with thee girls. Kurtis and Luke had gone to some friends house for the afternoon.

Much has happened around the Mid-south since our last posting. However, sad to say, not much for the Kitson family. We are still here doing the same things. Sounds boring doesn't it? Well life is anything but boring. We are always busy even if it is just the mundane everyday life activities.

Last night we took Gina, Adrianne, Olivia, and Winona to the train station to take a trip to Chicago. They are going to have lunch at the American Girl Doll store. They have other activities planned as well. They will leave for Michigan on Thursday. I plan to meet up with them on Sunday evening or early Monday morning.

Time for another trip to Pensacola!! This one is for a pick-up. Jenna is done with her first year of college. Hooo-rah! I am very proud of her. With all of the struggles we have had as a family in the past few years, it was up to her to make it financially. She worked hard and did it. We helped when we could with a little extra spending money and such. But for the most part she did it herself. GOOD JOB Jenna!!!!

Pray that she is able to find a job here in the Mid-South during the summer.

We went to Pensacola last week! We went to visit Jenna at college.

We had a good time.

The weather was less than desirable, however God is good and He gave us time at the beach with the sun shinning. We had other plans this day which included the Naval Aviation Museum. We came out of the museum for lunch and saw that that the sky was lighter and clouds moving out. So we finished lunch and headed to the beach. It really was a good time.

I suppose I should give some attention to this site again!! I have been busy. I know we all use that phrase, but it is really true. I have been working overtime and with all the kids activities, it is really hard to take the time needed to make these posts.

I know there are many questions about what is happening in the Kitson home lately......well, Life is good!! We are truly blessed.

We are leaving for Pensacola on Tuesday, March 24th. We will be spending a few days there with Jenna. She has been lonely since returning for the Spring semester. Since I have a few days off, we decided to go visit. We want the little ones to be able to see the ocean and play at the beach. Hopefully we can find a nice secluded or at least empty part of the beach.

Happy Birthday, Joe!!!!!

Joe is home, here in MS, visiting for the Holidays. It is truly a blessing to have him home for awhile. Mom and Dad have missed him(as well as all our children that have moved out and away).

Today is a stark contrast from yesterday. Temperature wise that is. Yesterday it was warm, but raining. Actually we had several thunderstorms roll thru the area. Today it is just cloudy and cold.

Rough Life!!

Last night was a real tough one. My schedule is one that most people would never want to work. My last two days of my work week I start working a 5:45 in the morning. Then after working eight hours I have eight hours off and then return to work at 10:00 pm. And work for eight hours. The "Midnight" shift is really busy too. We work the Fedex flights. They fly some 100+ airplanes into MEM to load and unload their packages. Then they turn around and fly out of MEM to destinations all over the world. And they do this all in that eight hours.

Of course I am extremely tried when all is said and done. Normally I come home and go right to bed. Today I go to bed and 60 minutes after laying my head down, Kurtis comes in my room and says "Dad, I need a ride to school, I missed the bus. Needless to say I was not a happy camper.

Wintertime

I have stumbled across a website that allows the viewer to watch streaming video of the snow falling in northern MI. www.wildernesspines.com/live_streaming_webcam.htm. I have visited this site several times with my girls so they can see the deer and snow before going to bed at night. In some ways we miss the snow.......not sure why?

It is cold in the mid-south this week. Temperatures have been down in the upper twenty's at night. But the daytime temps have still managed to get into the upper forty's and low fifties. As long as the sun is shining I am OK. Most of the leaves have fallen now. But there are a few trees that have 1/3-1/2 of their leaves still on. This picture was taken on Thanksgiving. That is our back yard.

Happy Thanksgiving!! We are getting ready for a very low keyed Thanksgiving this year. We have four of our "kids" away from home and their schedules don't allow them the opportunity to come home for the Holiday. This is the first year we can remember that we have not been together for Thanksgiving. We are only cooking one small turkey. We understand, but it is just a little sad.

The leaves here are in full retreat now. We have had a few days of below freezing temps. At night! Daytime temps continue to be comfortable. Yesterday was a beautiful, sunny day with temps in the low 60's. Today should be a little warmer. I expect the boys to be out raking leaves today and making our yard look good.

We will also celebrate Lorna's birthday today after our evening church service. Her actual birthday is the 27th. We wanted her to have her presents early, so she would have a distraction on Thursday while we prepare the meal.

The Battle Begins....

I have not kept up with this blog very well. I am always thinking about what to write. However, by the time I get my thoughts together I never have the time.

This morning I sit here in front of this computer and wonder what the day will bring my way. I am sure that there will be trials, tests, conflicts, disagreements, disappointments, etc. I am not dwelling on the negative. I just know that these things will happen sometime during the day. I have 12 kids, 8 still at home. So, knowing that these things will happen sometime today, I must have the power of God to "handle" them the right way. I am begging God each day to give me the power to handle these "situations". I now am able to look ahead and be ready for the trials that may come my way. Sometimes I can see them coming and just smile and "fight" them off. Other times I am blindsided and have to pick myself up off the cold, hard floor and gather my senses before I can do anything. Each time though, I learn a little something. I NEED more of the POWER OF GOD!

Things here in the greater Memphis area are going OK. I have been tried and tested in so many ways since coming down here. I feel that I have learned alot. I have faced many situations that I never would have thought I would have to face. I don't know if I have handled all of them in the best way, but I have realized that I need the Lord more and more. I am praying that we as a family can realize our dependence on the Lord. Sometimes we can become so comfortable in our life that we have a very difficult time hearing what the Lord is saying to us. Other times we become so bent on our own desires that we can never hear the Lord speaking.

Well here it is Oct 10th, and we still have temps in the low to mid 80's. I am not complaining one bit mind you. Last night during one of my breaks I walked outside. I was wearing a short sleeve shirt, and it was very comfortable outside. Temps in the low to mid 70's at 9:00pm. Gotta like it! I have been trying to find the time to get some pictures downloaded into my Macbook. That is hard to do. (Find the time)

We are looking forward to the Holiday times this year. We are hoping to have friends and family come to visit. I have to work during most of the holidays. That is the breaks of being a "civil servant". Our "son" from Ghana is possibly coming over to visit. He is attending a flight training school in FL.

We hope that all that read this are enjoying the wonderful blessings of the Lord. Take time today to share the "good news" with someone else.

Well last night we were able to see Joe and then Jacob(wanted to make sure everyone knew Joe sang on the "main stage" first) sing at the National Quartet Convention in Louisville, KY. It was a thrill to me to see my boys doing what they love to do, singing for the Lord. I know there are some people that think these groups are nothing but entertainers, well I know these guys real good and that is not the case. I could go into the argument in favor of them but that is for a different forum. I was impressed(and extremely PROUD) with my boys!!!!!!!!!!!!
Continue to pray for us to get "settled" here. Finding doctors and such is a challenge. Love to all. BTW(that means "By the way"), if you are veiwing this then you can send a little note via the comment button) HINT!

Well I suppose there are some of you out there that are wondering if we have fallen off the face of the earth. Well......pretty close...we are living in Mississippi!!!!! We are getting more use to this place and trying to get into a rhythm. I have started working and still in the training process. Yes, I am in training!!! No matter where you go as a controller you start training. Learning the airspace, etc.............
We are still hoping to sell the house in Gaylord. So far no takers. Please pray that we get some relief to this situation.

Today I am in Gaylord, MI. i am trying to finish up the last of the clean-up and removal of "stuff" at the house here. I went to church last night and Dan Martin preached. It was a good message about what to do when you are between a rock and a hard spot. It seemed a little weird to be here in Gaylord when i have no family here. I can wait to get out of MI and be with my family. We will be without a computer for awhile so check back after the first of Aug and there will be more to post.

Travelling

Well the day has finally come for us to begin the VERY long trip to the greater Memphis area. We all spent the night at Grandma Becky's house. Tight quarters, but we only needed to sleep. Grandma is leaving to go to the hospital for surgery on her knee. Keep her in your prayers!! We are travelling as far as we can tonight. Then in the morning we are picking up Luke,Kara,Winona, and Olivia from Grandpa Kitson. They have been spending a few weeks there in Arkansas. Pray all goes well on our trip. The van is loaded and the trailer I am pulling is very heavy. This will be a very slow trip. My next post will probably be a few days from now. Our computer is still at the house in Gaylord. So no pictures for awhile. Love to all.

Happy 4th of July everyone!!!! I love the 4th. It isn't because of the fireworks and the cookouts, all good of course, but it is because of what this day stands for. I love my country. I love what she has always stood for. Freedom!!! Even at her own expense, she has defended the right of FREEDOM!!! Our country may be headed in the wrong direction politically, and maybe even morally, but she still is a nation that has a foundation that is solid. I fear the people of this country that are lackadaisical and apathetic to not do anything to stem the tide of destroying the foundations of our land.

WOW!! I didn't think I was going to go off on a tirade. Sorry for that!! I Love AMERICA!!
Any way we are going to continue to pack and prepare for this coming weeks move. I have to go to work and then take all the belongings down to Memphis. I then close on the house and turn right around and head back to Waterford for 2-3 weeks of work. Again, away from the family. But then, ah, I will have a home and job close to each other. We certainly covet your thoughtfulness and prayers.

"To do" list

Today is another one of those days I am not sure how much I can accomplish. I have about 100 things on the "to do" list. I am expecting a call from the mechanic about the trailer hitch and air conditioning. We "MUST" have that fixed before we move south. I also am waiting for insurance quotes for the new house. Things move much slower in the south I am finding. No one is in a hurry to get anything done. There are still rooms here that need to be painted and small repairs that need to be done to "help" the house show better.
Joe is trying to buy a car before he heads out this weekend. GOOD LUCK!!!!
The house here in Gaylord is showing signs of emptiness. The office is the staging area for all the boxes and totes. Along with the pieces of furniture that are making the trip. We are basically down to our beds and necessary clothing. And the computer is still up and running, I will probably pack it up sometime Saturday morning.

Waiting to move

We signed all the necessary papers and we are planning to close on the house on July 10th. I was really hoping to close sooner and be able to move during my scheduled time off. We will be loading up and leaving early on the 9th of July. Spend a night at a hotel and close on the house the next day. Hopefully all goes well.
Today I have to look for a hitch for the van. We are able to use a friends 18ft cargo trailer. Believe it or not most everything we have will fit in there. We have sold off so many things. Sometimes it is good to know just how little we really need.
Could use some help to paint and clean and such after we get possession. If you are interested let us know!! By the way I checked Airtran ticket prices......$241 RT from CHS-MEM.

Well I have had several questions concerning our recent offer on the house on MS. To sum in up.......I know nothing. We submitted the paperwork late on Friday May 30th. And since we are making an offer thru another agent to a large banking corporation, nothing gets done on the weekends. We had expected to know something by this past Wednesday. So here we go another weekend with out hearing anything. I am not really mad or angry, just impatient. Let's hope that the "big" banking company finally responds on Monday.

Unfortunately I am always the last to know what is going on in my families life. Not really, but it does seem that I am somewhat "out of the loop". Here we all have computers and cell phones and I have to find out thru rumor that Dave Mann(son-in-law) is now singing with a group out of Spartanburg, SC.

News from web-site- God has delivered our new team member. Gaylord, MI native Dave Mann is our new baritone singer. He and his lovely wife Jael are former members of The Kitsons along with new Greater Vision tenor Jacob Kitson. Dave, Jael, and 10 month old Jack will soon be relocating to the Spartanburg area. You will want to get out and see us soon as this young man is an incredible talent and heck of a nice guy to boot! He just needs a little Southernizing ..... I'm working on that!

Well I did kinda hear something about this from my wife's conversation with Jael. I however rarely receive "first-hand" news. Congratulations to Dave!

Graduation '08

Well the day finally came and Jenna was among the class of nine graduates of Grace Baptist Christian School, Gaylord, MI. She, along with the rest of her class graduated with honors. She had a GPA of just under 3.50. Or was it just over....I don't know. Anyway, we had a little party at the house afterwards and had a good time. The time has now come to make plans for the rest of her life. Sounds scary doesn't it? Jenna plans to attend Pensacola Christian College in sunny Florida.

Well we did it! No, we didn't sell our house.....bummer!! But we did put in a offer on the house we have looked at in MS. The house needs alot of work. But we are praying that we can get it at a really good price. If all goes well we should be able to close by the end of June. Then we have at least a week or so of hard work to make it ready to live in. I am sure I can find some able bodied young men that would love to help their old man out. I might even find an "older" guy to help out. wink,wink. If you want before and after pictures let me know. That's if we get this house. Pray that this house sells!!!

Today is Memorial Day!! A holiday set aside to remember all those that have sacrificed their lives so that you and I can live in freedom. I can not relate to the sacrifice that so many families have gone thru. I have been so "blessed" by our God! Praise the Lord!!! I am sitting at Grandma Becky's house visiting before I have to go to work. Yes, even on the Holidays I have to work. Just think, I only have 4 1/2 years left before I am able to retire. Certainly hope all is well with everybody. God bless!!

Here again I haven't kept up with this blogging stuff! I find the time is just too hard to spend writing and posting pictures. I have to schedule this for times of little to no other activities. I seem to be interrupted all the time. We are in the process of applying for a mortgage and making an offer on the house we have found in MS. It is only 2 miles from church and 12 miles from my work place. WOW!!! what a difference that will make in our lives. If you want to Google it the address is 8700 Oakchase Cove, Walls, MS.

Keep Joe in prayers!! He is experiencing some rather painful foot irritations. Something like cluster blisters or warts. He is not getting much relief. He really needs our prayers.

Busy month

WOW!! It has been a whirlwind of activity around the Kitson house. May is one month that is never lacking for activities. Let's see. After Jael left on the 3rd. The 11th was Gi-gi's birthday. Then the annual Campmeeting @ Grace Baptist Church, from May 12th-15th. Then we have George's birthday on the 17th. Then Jenna turns 18 today the 18th.
Our 25th wedding anniversary is on the 21st. Wow, 25 years......has it really been that long? I can't imagine having any one else in my life but Gina. She is a great (understatement) woman!! To put up with me!! Not to mention all the time she has been alone in the last 8 1/2 years. I LOVE HER!!!!!!! After all this we have Jenna's graduation on the 30th.

Returning to the Game!

It has been along time since the last update. I will try to bring everyone up to speed. Jael and Jack made it home safe and sound....boy was I glad. You see, I had to drop them off at the Flint airport and leave them there a good hour and a half prior to their flight leaving. I hate to leave Jael alone, although she is a big girl now...daddy still feels he needs to be there for her.
Jacob and Joe and George are all coming up from TN for the last night and day of Campmeeting '08. Jacob will attend the Alumni breakfast on Friday morning and then beat feet for OH to sing that evening. Oh to be young again and have the strength and energy to do all that travelling.

For those that haven't heard I have accepted a job in Memphis, TN. I have a reporting date of August 3rd. We are still trying to sell our house and make the move. We will make the move one way or the other. I am really looking forward to being able to be home every night. Please pray that our house sells. SOON!! HE is still in control. Amen!!

Jenna will graduate from High School this year. Wow!! I was thinking on the way to work today....If, and it is a big IF, I stay working past my eligibility date, to the day they force me out, I will still have three girls living at home. Wow, what am I going to do? 56 years of age and still have three girls living at home. Gigi will only be 13-14 years of age. Well I am at work and should get some work done.

Well it has been awhile since my last post...I have a tendency to get caught up doing so many other things that I forget and sometimes just fail to keep those around me informed. I have all the modern devices available to me; cell phones, computers, emails, etc. I just seem to neglect the process of telling others about the things happening in my life.
Today is Sunday and I went to church. I went to Victory Baptist Church and saw some old friends, the Tipton's. They have three kids and their oldest, Scott has been called to preach. He is considering his future schooling possibilities. It was good to see them.
This is the second week of Jael's stay with us. She was able to get most of her stuff loaded and delivered to their new place in South Carolina. What a blessing. Dave starts his new job this week, another blessing. It has been good to have Jael and Jack around, but I am sure they are missing being with Dave(daddy). Each weekend until Jael is to leave is filled with plans. Wedding's, garage sales, etc. It will go by quickly.

Last night was "Evening of Excellence" at Grace Baptist Christian School. It was a special night for the Senior class of 2008. Jenna won the overall award for excellence with her entry.

Jael and Jack finally made it here. They seem to have had a good flight. The ride home to Gaylord was good, just longer than Jael remembered. We had to stop to go potty, and that is where this picture was taken. Jack is one big kid. It is funny to watch Winona or Lorna trying to pick him up, he is almost as big as them. Everyone was so excited to see them. It was hard to go to church and leave them here. They were really tired. It is tough getting up early in the morning and travelling across the country.

Well I am preparing to go to work for the week. I have to leave my family and travel 200 miles away. I am then by myself until I return on Wed afternoon. This week is special though, I am picking up Jael and Jack-Jack from the airport in Flint. Everyone is very impatient. We always use the phrase "I can't wait", knowing that we have to wait and we have no other choice but to wait. It is just an expression of our intense anticipation.

Well today it is Sunny again, Praise the Lord!!!! Although the temps are still very cold.....in the teens this morning, to warm into the upper 30's this afternoon. We showed the house yesterday. Don't have any idea how it went yet. Keep praying that someone finds this house irresistible and buys it.

They tell me it is springtime!!!!

Luke and I just finished clearing the driveway of the annoying snow that fell yesterday. We got about three inches or more of heavy snow and it was not fun clearing it away. Our snow blower broke down about three weeks ago and we have been fortunate so far that there hasn't been very much snow.

I am not real sure as to where this is going to lead. This bloger thing I am refering to. Choosing to forgo the renewal of our previous web-site, I thought it best to start a blog to try to stay, somewhat, in public view. This will be a place for any of the 12 wonderful children I have been bless with to enter their views and comments. I will periodiaclly add pictures and what not to keep you all up to date.
